WELCOME
FRESH FLOWERS AND PLANTS:

Just as you want your groceries to be fresh, you should also expect your flowers to be. Unfortunately, flowers do not have a "best before" date stamped on them. There is virtually no way of knowing just how fresh they are, or how long you can expect your flowers to last.
Essentially the typical supply chain works likes this... At the end of a flower growers day, all previously cut flowers that are not sold directly to consumers like yourself (Direct from the Grower), are then shipped to auctions or wholesalers throughout Canada and the United States. These are in turn sold at a discount to florists who stock them as inventory in their coolers until they can be sold to consumers. Therefore, through the traditional supply channels, consumers often get a three to five day old bouquet.
Because we cut our flowers every day of the year, we don't have to maintain a "consumer ready" inventory. By purchasing your flowers direct from the greenhouse grower, you receive only the freshest possible product, guaranteed. The flowers you receive from our growers have been harvested within the past 24 hours, and will mature to magnificent full blooms for maximum enjoyment.

What Your Favorite Flower Says About You:

Carnation: Tradition is very important to you. Your down-to-earth attitude and innate ability to keep confidences makes you one of the most loyal and trusted friends. As a result, you are always surrounded by loved ones who come to you for guidance.

Daisy: You notice things others miss. For example, the different shades of pink in the sky as the sun sets, the hint of sadness behind someone’s smile-which means you are a natural at drinking in all life has to offer.

Iris: You tend to get bored quickly with day-to-day routines. In order to maintain your great vitality and creativity, you need to follow your inspiration wherever it may lead. You thrive and prosper in jobs and situations where you are your own boss.

Lily: You are a nurturing person. In fact, people are drawn to you. A few words from you can make people feel worlds better. It’s no wonder many say you would be a great therapist! However, you shouldn’t feel like you have to ease everyone’s troubles; your caring alone accomplishes more than you realize.

Roses: You are the kind of woman that will bring the Prince Charming out in a man. You are also the kind of friend who gets called first with news-big or small. Despite your wide social circle and busy agenda, you have a secret need for alone time and you will sometimes even feel a little shy.

Tulip: You thrive on change. You are always dreaming up some way to improve yours and your family’s lives. But just as a tulip blooms in the same spot each year, deep down inside, you are often content with what you have.

Most Commonly Used House Plants and their care.

Spider Plant

Spider plants have a rosette of long (1-2 foot) leaves that are green or variegated with creamy white. It produces plantlets at the end of long arching stems. Spiders plants make ideal hanging basket plants. Plant in regular potting mix. It prefers bright light, but is very adaptable to medium light. Allow soil to dry between watering. Spider plants will produce plantlets when pot bound.

Umbrella Tree

Schefflera is a popular indoor plant that can reach 8 feet tall under proper growing
conditions. Its glossy large, compound leaves resemble an umbrella. Plant in an all-purpose potting mix and water thoroughly, but allow to dry moderately between watering.. In warm, dry rooms, they tend to be attacked by spider mites. Increase humidity to help avoid this. Carefully wash leaves (top and underside) regularly. Tip pruning will help keep plant bushy. These plants are all adaptable to a wide range of growing conditions. While they grow best in a warm, moist environment, they do faiRL well under normal household conditions of temperature and humidity.

Weeping Fig

Plant in regular potting soil and keep the soil minimally
moist at all times.
Best in bright, indirect light, diffused sun, warm temperatures, and medium
humidity. When grown in pots, these plants tend to develop a single stem. The leaves drop if the plant is chilled or if it is moved from one place to another. Ficus like their roots crowded in a small pot. Wipe leaves with a wet cloth at frequent intervals.

Prayer Plant

Prayer plant folds up its leaves in darkness. Plant in regular potting mix and keep the soil moist. Grow in diffused sun, bright, indirect light, warm temperatures and high humidity. Keep evenly moist, but allow the soil to dry between watering during winter. Do not allow water to stand on the crowns; the stems rot easily.

Devil's Ivy

Pothos looks like a smooth-stemmed philodendron, but can be distinguished from philodendron by its ridged stems.
They are vigorous climbers and look nice in a pot or in a hanging basket. Plant in humus
soil and allow to dry moderately between watering for devil's ivy, but keep barely moist at all times for silver pothos. Best grown in bright, indirect sunlight, warm temperatures and low humidity.
Leaf color tends to disappear in low light conditions.

Jade Plant, Silver Dollar Plant

These are easy to grow succulents. They can last many years and grow into miniature trees. Do best with four or more hours of direct sun, but also seem to do well in bright, indirect light.
Moderate temperature is best, but are tolerant of a wide range. Allow soil to nearly dry between watering.

Philodendron

Philodendrons grow better than most other houseplants under adverse conditions
of most homes.. They do well as long as they are kept warm, moderately moist and out of direct sunlight. Numerous species and hybrids are available. There is a wide variation in plant and leaf form. Plant in regular potting soil and keep the soil minimally moist at all times. For best results, grow in bright, indirect sunlight, warm temperatures and low humidity.

English Ivy

Various other plants are called ivy though they are not related to the real ivy plant, Hedera. These
climbing vines can be trained to form topiaries or allowed to cascade over pots. Plant ivy in regular potting mix and keep the soil moist. Grow in bright light, cool temperatures, and low to medium humidity. Begin training ivy when it is small. Pinch off the ends of the shoots frequently to produce a bushy plant. Inspect for spider mites regularly.

Nephthytis, White-veined arrowhead vine

Nepthythis has heart-shaped leaves with silver, white or yellow markings. Plant in regular potting soil and keep the soil barely moist. Best grown in bright, indirect sunlight, warm temperatures and low humidity. Provide with a pole or totem for support. Prune occasionally. Propagate with stem cuttings.

Mother-in law tongue, Snake plant

These plants grow in almost any environment. The species develops clumps of erect, strap-shaped leaves, 18-30 inches tall, that are dark green with bands of lighter green or yellow. Another variety develops four inch tall leaves that form a rosette. Plant in regular potting mix and allow the soil to dry completely between watering. Grow in any light intensity from dim interior to full sun. Keep moderate to warm temperatures and low humidity. In winter, water just enough to keep the foliage from shriveling. Over-watering is the main reason for failure.

Chinese Evergreen

Chinese evergreens are very tolerant plants that do well in a variety of
settings. Several
species are available, some with dark green leaves and others that are variegated. Aglaonema flourish for years. Grow in water or in humus potting soil. Keep the soil minimally moist. They do best in shadow-less light, such as a north window. They require a minimum of care. When the stems become too long, propagate with tip cuttings. Or use the air-layering method.

Flower Arranging and Information

Flower Tips

1. Always use clean vases or containers. This will prevent any bacteria from ruining the quality of the flowers.
2. Remove all of the leaves which will be under the water while in the vase. Leaves that are submerged will rot, thus creating bacteria and shortening the life span of your flowers.
3. Always add the cut flower food supplied to you by your florist, to the water in the vase. Change the water and flower food every three to four days.
4. Grower fresh flowers are shipped when they are in bud or half open, which is the recommended state to pick flowers. You will then have the pleasure of seeing them slowly open up once delivered, this also increases the life span of your flowers.
5. Never place your flower arrangements in full sun or over a radiator. This will cause excess water loss from the flowers, and they will wilt very quickly. For a maximum life span the best place for your flowers is in a cool room.
6. Use a container that is in proportion to the amount of flowers you have. Too small of a container for the flowers will not hold enough water, and they may dry out before you realize it.
7. Once or twice a day lightly spray your floral arrangement with clear water to create a humid atmosphere around the flowers.

Arranging Fresh Flowers

1. Think about the size of the space in which your arrangement will be placed, and choose the size of you container and flowers accordingly. A big vase and lots of flowers will look overcrowded on a small side table. A small vase and few flowers would look lost in a larger display area.
2. When using open flowers, such as roses, daffodils or gerbera daisies, try to turn some of them at different angles to show different shape. Try not to arrange your flowers all facing in the same direction if the arrangement can be viewed from various angles.
3. Try to allow some space between the flowers to prevent a crowded effect.
4. Make sure that your vase is leak proof and that it has a neck which is big enough for the flowers to fit comfortably.
5. If the flowers sometimes don't stand up straight it could be that your vase is too short for the flowers, or that the flowers are too tall for the vase. A good way to check if the vase you would like to use is of an appropriate height, is too see if the vase is at least half as tall as the flowers.
6. If you cut your flowers too short, don't think that it is all for loss! Either put pebbles or marbles at the bottom of your vase for shorter flowers to stand on. You could also simply cut the head off of the flower and float it in a decorative dish, along with candles.
7. You can use filler flowers in a sparse looking arrangement to give it a much fuller appearance. Some good examples of filler flowers include, feverfew, ferns, Queen Anne's lace, baby's breath, heather, statice, and aster.
8. To give your arrangement more dimension cut the flowers at various lengths. Place the longest stems in the center of your bouquet.
